A Cup of Soup, 2 Slices of Tempe, and a Spoon of Sambal

Friday, 23 January 2015 By Ellena Wulandari 0 Comments
Soup, Tempe, and Sambal. Is there an Indonesian doesn’t know the foods? Well, there are 3 familiar foods in Indonesia. And today I will show you how I make it. Yeah, as usual as my mom said that my cooking is delicious (don’t believe it hihi).

A cup of soup
Matters
¼ kg of carrot, slice it

½ kg of potato, slice it
0.1 kg of beans, slice it
0.1 kg of cabbage flower, slice it
2 chives, slice it
1 tomato, slice it
½ teaspoon of pepper powder
3 celeries
5 spoons of cooking oil
0.1 kg of meat, slice it
Spices
5 onions, slice it
5 garlics, grind it with a teaspoon of salt and ½ teaspoon of sugar**
Steps
• First, prepare all of the matters and spices.
• Prepare a pan and heat the oil over it.
• Put in the spices and wait until it become brownish.
• Put in the meat and small the fire into the smallest one***. Wait until it become brownish.
• Put in the pepper powder and celeries.
• Put in the water and slowly increase the fire.
• After the water is cooked, put in the carrot, potato, chives, bean, cabbage flower, and tomato.
• Wait until it cooked and serve it. ****
** I grind sugar with garlics because sugar can replace the taste of synthetic flavor.
*** I don't need a long time to make the meat cooked in the oil because of the difference of boiling point between water and oil.
**** Don't cook it too long. Because the vitamin of the vegetables will be vanished.

Fried Tempe
Matters
10 Tempe, 2 garlics, a teaspoon of salt, and 3 spoons of water.
Steps
• First, grind the garlics and salt.
• Mix the garlics with 3 spoons of water.
• Pour it into the tempe.
• Fried the tempe with a medium fire.
• Wait until it become brownish.

Sambal Terasi
Matters
11 chilies, 5 onions, 2 garlics, a spoon of terasi, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Steps
• Fried all of the matters in the medium fire.
• Grind them together with salt and serve it.

Well done. It is so easy to make, isn’t?
You just need to have 30 minutes of your time in the kitchen and let your mom take a rest and say, “Thank you dear” :)

This is it.
